“Why every Dad should get to know Onnit”

Very rarely do I back a company this hard. Onnit is absolutely dedicated to people who want real life, functional strength and not only strength concerning the body but strength of their mind as well. The reason this is paramount to the success as a father is that fitness is a release. This positive release has allowed me to become a more present and focused parent. I have been able to be a good example to my child, I have learned more about myself, my strengths, my weaknesses, and achieving goals. Onnit has an amazing commitment to optimizing the entire human body. With tutorials available for free for individuals that are short on time, short on space, and need to see results fast, there is no other company that I know of with such a dedication to improving yourself inside and out. Their blog is a wealth of information on everything from supplements to workouts, dietary suggestions and more. An all encompassing collective of like-minded individuals who run the gamut of Yogis, Fitness Instructors, Kettlebell enthusiasts, Family Men, and everywhere in between, Onnit has their hand in almost every type of functional equipment and human body enhancing product that I already believe in and this is why I back them so hard.

I never was a really strong guy. I was always pretty small all the way through high school, until I graduated and learned about pizza and beer. Alternatively I slowly morphed into the same weak guy hidden inside a massively larger body fueled by cases of beer and entire pizza pies. Until I hit my late 20’s, I never in my life had experienced what it was like to be strong. When my daughter was born I decided it was high time to make a change. I wanted to be in better health but wasn’t sure how to go about it. I spent many wasted years “dieting” on processed foods, and though my weight was getting lower on the scale, I was losing weight, but could be considered as “skinny fat.” No definition, no muscle, just flabby skin. The scale read the right numbers, but my body didn’t necessarily look any better than before.

I was headed towards the right goals, but doing things the wrong way.

I never have been a fan of team sports. Group fitness just wasn’t an option for me as I didn’t have the time, nor the interest in being pushed by anyone but myself and my own goals. Call me stubborn, but I just didn’t like the idea of a boot camp type atmosphere, or and expensive gym fee that would go to waste. When I found Onnit, it was like a lightbulb went off in my head. With unconventional equipment, Onnit set the groundwork for me to achieve real life fitness in areas I had never explored. I was seeing people that had the same build as I did swinging hundred pound kettle bells, twisting and turning with a steel mace, pounding large Battle ropes and folks focused on clean nutrition. Onnit has their hand in supplements that optimize your body and also your mind. It is no secret that CEO Aubrey Marcus is dedicated to expanding his mind on every plane and within his vision, he has a goal of “total human optimization. “

This is a company I can really stand behind. Completely transparent, the people that are involved in the company use and trust the supplements and fitness equipment they sell. These aren’t a bunch of steroid using meatheads telling you that the secret to their success is whey protein when the truth is their unnatural physique is built on a fallacy. Onnit is comprised of a bunch of folks that are just like us, real life people with real life, functional strength.

Whether you are new to the fitness world, or an expert, there is a place for you at Onnit. If you are interested in a group class, or a certification at their gym in Texas, or just want to browse their website for free workouts that you can do at home, all are welcome. They have the tools that are perfect for a Dad, and ones that are great for those that have very little free time, need to see results, and might not necessarily have a lot of space to dedicate to a home gym. Onnit has created an underground community of people that love fitness for not only what it does to your body but how it greatly impacts and improves your life. This is why Onnit has changed the entire way I parent. They have filled a void with a positive addiction, and helped me create a better version of my former self.

Onnit has absolutely revolutionized the fitness world and made it accessible to people who might not feel comfortable in a gym. It’s been said that they are like a “GNC for dudes who shop at Whole Foods” Hilarious and there is a little bit of truth to that. Onnit exists for those who might not want to be intimidated in a gym, around grunting meatheads that want to know “how much can you bench, bro”, but in an interesting way they exist for them too. Onnit exists in a place where function is a little more important than aesthetics, but it’s like asking if the chicken or the egg comes first. When you start developing “real life strength” you will start to look like you have it, but the change has to start with you.

Top Five Products I dig from Onnit:

Primal Bells: My most favorite piece of equipment, and one of the best for real life, functional strength.
Steel Mace: Great for building strength and improving shoulder mobility.
Hemp FORCE: If you are going to supplement with a protein powder, this is one of the best.
Onnit MCT Oil: Boost your coffee’s power by making it bulletproof when you add in this MCT oil.
Battle Ropes: A great workout, wonderful cardio and an absolute staple:
