When I became a father, I still wasn’t ready to trade in my punk records for a suit and tie. I’ve always felt the best example I could set as a dad was to follow my heart.
More importantly what my friend said back then still reminds me that when we change, that certainly doesn’t mean we have to “sellout” the things that made us who we are, or knock those that needed to move on.
These are the type of values and ideals I pass down to my kids. I’m still the same tattooed, skateboard riding, guitar playing punk rocker I ever was, just now I have kids to listen to those records with. Be true to yourself, and everything else will fall into place, it always does.
