“Rad Dad Feature: Andrew Brophy”

Andrew is from Margaret River, Western Australia, a small town with awesome surfing and an even better skatepark. In 2008 he turned pro for Cliche Skateboards and has been making a name for himself ever since with his massively underrated style on his skateboard. Andrew is hardly ever seen without his children in tow and is almost always smiling. He is a great guy that puts his family first and has supported our site since day one, this made him the perfect candidate for our “Rad Dad Feature.” Thank’s for taking part Andrew!

1. Tell us about what you do, who you are, and how you balance your career with being a dad?

I’m a 28 year old professional skateboarder from Margaret River, Western Australia, but living in Noosa who loves my sport and being healthy and active. With my profession there is no real time schedule so I am lucky to get plenty of time with my two rad little boys !!!

2. What does being a modern-day dad mean to you?

Being rad to your kids, letting them express them selves completely with freedom . I want them to be them with out moulding them to much .

3.How did becoming a father change your life?

It made it better, it made me want to be responsible and not be aloof like I was before . There is always challenges but what’s life with out that. Kids made my world a better one

4. Whats the greatest part about being a dad?

The greatest part? Lots. Maybe the unconditional love they give, the laughter, the frustration, the friendship…I love all the qualities it brings .

5. Can you share a funny story about being a father?

Funny stories, dude they happen every day it’s kinda hard to remember hahaha. Basically just what my eldest says to me cracks me up , he uses words that I’m sure he has no idea what they mean in the correct way like I ask him how the park was and he will say “dad the park was incredible”. He also thinks people who speak different languages come from different planets. Hahaha

6. What advice can you give any new father out there?

You’re prepared either way , your going to make it work so don’t stress to much on it . It’s not going to ruin your life but make it a life.

Thanks Andrew! Keep ripping as a Dad and Skateboarder!
